My soul is guiding me to return to my artist self. When my soul speaks, I listen. Many others have been reporting to me that in 2021 they have also felt the call to initiate (or re-initiate) the artist within. This makes me very happy. There is no new renaissance without the artists. Even if one of them is a silver-haired, techno-hip-hop wannabe.
My two inspirations (three if we include a new book) that are currently underway are, co-creating an ongoing group for those who choose to explore the cosmic language of resonance, and a return to the creation of musical poetry. Indeed, it is all music to me. But before I dive deep into these multi-track, multidimensional soundscapes, I wanted to share some of my past creations. I created these in Garageband, the software that came with several incarnations of my Apple laptops. It took many years before I had the courage to share in this way. You know, without the perfectionist in me demanding that I share something in perfect form or not at all. Whew. That was a tough one to overcome.
I wrote and created this in 2013. It was an amateur attempt to capture the poem and sounds in my head at the time. It was so very different from my three albums of the produced, spiritual-awakening/pop approach. However, what remained the same throughout all the music I’ve created is my best attempt to match what I was hearing-feeling with the available sounds in the software. “When the Soul Hits Home” was my techno-hip-hop piece about embodiment… before embodiment was a thing.

Today I am taking my precious windows of time and learning a much more sophisticated piece of music software with way more cool loops and instruments – Logic Pro X. I admit, the learning curve is a bit overwhelming at times. What I really wanted was for a talented someone to come forward to partner with in creating digital soundscapes for the mystical messages and poetry. When that didn’t happen, I finally decided I’d better study it myself.
This is another example of my art. Years ago, I started creating my own vocal soundscapes and effects to envelop my poetry. This was one that wrote itself while journaling a lucid dream.
“This Time She Stays” began as a 2018 poem that downloaded onto the page very quickly. It wanted to be a poem-soundscape too so I hastily complied in the time that I had. I never had time to go back and make this a polished piece. One day, I hope to. It is about the determined return of the Divine Mother/Feminine.
“Almost Time” was a poem that began in 1991. I wrote it following a mystical experience in the parking lot of a large defense firm in San Diego. In 2000, my producer helped me to transform my scratched-out words and piano chords into this. Later, the song would change again, although this was always my favorite version.
This Presence speaks now through many and primarily through the artist… It is the artists who are holding this vibration. They have been the ones with the courage to NOT know – not fully identifying with life as it was given, and not fully supported [by the world] to identify with the Creative Force that they deeply feel and know within.

While I was already toying with the idea, the main thrust for studying Logic Pro X is, this past Sunday a message from the Mother came through. Embedded within Her extraordinary energy was the suggestion that I envelop Her inside the music too. I do hope She is patient with my learning curve.
